We are Seeking a Food and Beverage Experience Manager

The Food and Beverage Experience Manager is an operations and hospitality leader responsible for expanding the Wallace’s profile as a vibrant cultural destination through the addition of food and beverage service. This role oversees the launch and management of the Wallace catering kitchen and ongoing food and beverage operations, elevating the patron experience across all performances, rentals, and community events.

Blending hospitality excellence with operational discipline, the Food and Beverage Experience Manager ensures every guest, artist, and client feels welcomed, cared for, and inspired from their first interaction to their final goodbye. This position manages food service, event hospitality operations, event staff, artist hospitality, and rental logistics, playing a central role in bringing the Wallace experience to life.

Key Responsibilities

Food & Beverage Operations

  • Launch and manage regular food service through the Wallace catering kitchen, including restaurant-style offerings and event-based service.

  • Develop menus, service models, and systems that align with the Wallace’s brand and audience.

  • Oversee food cost management, inventory control, purchasing, and vendor relationships.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing requirements.

  • Maintain high standards of quality, presentation, and consistency.

Patron Experience & Hospitality

  • Design and deliver exceptional guest food and beverage experiences for all events, performances, and rentals.

  • Oversee hospitality for visiting artists, including catering, backstage needs, and personalized care.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve service flow, ambiance, and guest touchpoints.

Staff Leadership & Management

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise concessions workers, kitchen staff, servers, and event support teams.

  • Build a service-oriented, positive, and professional.

  • Set clear expectations and provide ongoing coaching to ensure excellence in execution.

Event Operations & Rentals

  • Manage rental bookings for the Wallace in coordination with the administrative coordinator.

  • Oversee event staffing and setup teams, ensuring smooth load-ins, room configurations, and service execution.

  • Serve as operational lead for private rentals, community events, and select performances.

Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Manage departmental budgets related to food service and event operations.

  • Track performance metrics, control costs, and identify opportunities for revenue growth and efficiency.

  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Director on long-term planning.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Proven experience in hospitality, food & beverage management, event operations, or related fields, experience in launching and growing food service programs

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, inventory, and operational systems.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Passion for creating meaningful guest experiences and supporting the arts.

  • Flexible schedule required, including evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a heart for community impact.

  • Calm under pressure, solutions-oriented, and highly collaborative.

  • Willing to jump in and help with team activities.

  • Collaborative, self-directed, and motivated by shared success rather than personal recognition.

Compensation, Benefits & Commitment to Inclusion

Compensation for the position is $55,000+, depending on experience. The Wallace Theater offers a flexible work schedule. We provide healthcare benefits and a flexible vacation policy.
