When highly engaged in the arts, across all subjects, students who are economically disadvantaged were more likely to pass standardized tests.
Students enrolled in arts programs report an average of six fewer missed school days.
But There is a Problem…
Rural students have up to 59% less access to arts education opportunities and courses compared to suburban students. Arts education integration improves academic outcomes, such as meeting TSI criteria, increased cognitive ability, testing scores and fewer missed school days.
Doors shouldn’t close to students because they live in a rural community.
